  • Perform routine housekeeping tasks as related to a safe and comfortable client environment

  • Remind the client to take oral medications

  • Assist client with feeding, dressing, and walking

  • Prepare meals, including special diets

  • Assist the client or family with grocery shopping and errands

  • Give bath or sponge bath and back rub

  • Turn and position client in bed; perform patient transfers from bed to chair to commode and vice versa

  • Assist with simple range of motion exercises

  • Assist with bedpan and urinal

  • Encourage self-help

Homemaker

A homemaker is a worker whose primary concern is to assist an elderly or disabled client to maintain a clean and safe home environment and complete basic household tasks. The homemaker works on an hourly basis.
A homemaker usually has no formal caregiver training but has knowledge of proper nutrition, marketing, food storage, cleanliness and safety, and home management.

A Homemaker can:

  • Maintain the home in an optimum state of cleanliness depending upon the client's resources

  • Perform general homemaker functions, such as preparation of meals, laundry, and shopping

  • Participate in planning and organizing household tasks

  • Stabilize the client when walking, as needed, by holding the client's arm or hand

  • Perform casual, cosmetic assistance for the client, such as brushing hair or assisting with dressing as allowed

  • Report any unusual changes in the client's behavior to the program director, RN, and/or administrator of the nurse registry

  • Schedule hours at the request of the family or client

Home Care Arrangements

We are able to arrange for a care-giver as needed by the client and family.  Care-givers can be provided in either an Hourly or Live-In basis as described below.

Hourly

The hourly care-giver works the hours as requested by the family to meet the unique needs of the client.  A typical request is for a care-giver to be at the client's home 9am-5pm Monday-Friday.  However, we can make arrangements to provide a care-giver who works 4 hours every other day up to care-givers who are present 24 hours a day 7 days a week for the client.

Live-In

The live-in care-giver remains in the home around the clock. Live-in services are provided seven days a week. The needs of the client determine the type of live-in assigned to a case. A live-in may be a Homemaker or a Personal Care Aide, depending upon the amount of hands-on assistance required by the client.
